It has only been a few years since Porsche treated on Macan at an important refresh, and another update is already there. Say hello to 2022 Porsche Macan, in which Porsche gets by with pretty much everything including styling, interior design / tech and powertrains.
The big change on the exterior is the new front end of the Macan. You will notice that the mouth of the GTS is now a giant black mass, avoiding the body Color front bumper split from the pre-refresh model. There are still body-colored horizontal parts in the lower bumper area, but the front grille and side air intakes – now visually united as one piece – simply dominate the front of the Macan’s. hood down. It’s a bit shocking in the GTS, but Porsche did it a lot less in the Macan S. Instead of all the black plastic everywhere, the front bumper is split by a body-colored piece spanning the width of the bumper. – front shocks which also reaches the top to separate the side intakes from the grille once again. It’s a lot easier on the eyes at first glance, but we’ll be making final judgment on both for an in-person look.
Porsche changed the rear of the car with a larger diffuser. The sides feature a new 3D textured side plank. In addition, it comes standard with Sport Design mirrors. A total of seven new wheel designs are available, ranging from 19-inch to 21-inch options.
Interior updates are what matters more than anything else, however. Porsche has officially done away with the center stack of physical buttons in favor of the haptic tactile center control area seen in many other models such as the cayenne and Panamera. It makes room for a larger central storage compartment, and Porsche has integrated a new gear lever (shorter than before) in the new console. What we don’t get is the largely digitized instrument cluster from these other models as Porsche sticks to what it has used before. Another significant improvement, however, is a newly available GT Sport steering wheel removed from the 911. New interior stitching options include papaya, gentian blue, and chalk.
To our great pleasure, but not surprisingly, Porsche has increased the power of each of its available models. The new base Macan sees horsepower increase to 261 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque from its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, increases of 13 and 22 respectively. Porsche says 0-60 mph is 0.3 seconds faster than before, dropping to 5.8 seconds when equipped with the Sport Chrono package.
The Macan S (pictured above) gets a jump up to 375 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque due to the fact that it features the GTS’s pre-refreshed 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. Its 0-60 mph time decreases from 0.5 seconds to 4.4 seconds; top speed reaches 160 mph and PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) is standard.
With the 2021 GTS engine going downstream, that means Porsche had to pull upstream for the 2022 GTS engine. It now gets the most extreme version of this 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 from the pre-refresh Turbo model. Developing 434 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, it’s good for a 0-100 km / h sprint in just 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 169 2 mph faster than the Turbo could handle. He also obtains the PSCB from Porsche brakes as standard and an adaptive air suspension with a lower ride height of 10 mm. Porsche claims the suspension is 15% stiffer than before and features new stops and strut mounts. The shocks are also recalibrated to provide a greater range of comfort and stiffness.
If you want an even more extreme Macan GTS, Porsche offers a âGTS Sport Packâ available for 2022. It includes the Sport Chrono Pack, Torque Vectoring Plus, 21-inch GT Design wheels, high-performance tires, 18 tracks. Sports seats and a number of other appearance accessories to make the exterior and interior a little more aggressive.
You’re probably wondering where the Turbo model is at this point. We asked Porsche about it, and a spokesperson confirmed that there won’t be a 2022 Turbo model. If there’s one down the line (Porsche declined to comment on the potential for a Turbo return), Porsche will have to find even more power than before since the GTS stole Turbo’s old engine.
The price is already available for each Macan model. We have listed the starting prices below. They are all meant to achieve dealers in the spring of 2022.
Macan: $ 56,250
Macan S: $ 66,750
