Several key Knicks could miss showdown with Suns

The Knicks could be shorthanded again on Friday night against the Suns.

Mitchell Robinson (concussion protocol), Derrick Rose (sprained ankle) and Taj Gibson (sore groin) have been listed as questionable after all missing Tuesday’s home win over the Lakers at the Garden.

The Burning Suns’ Friday visit (14-game winning streak) marks the start of consecutive games for the Knicks, including their first trip to Atlanta this season after Trae Young and the Hawks knocked them out of the playoffs in June.

The Knicks did not have media availability for Thanksgiving, but coach Tim Thibodeau said Wednesday Robinson is “making progress” and following “all protocols” since being nudged in the nose by Jae Houston’s Sean Tate at home on Saturday night. defeat the Rockets.

Mitchell Robinson is one of three Knicks players who could miss the game against the Suns.

“If he’s cleared, he’ll leave,” Thibodeau said Wednesday of Robinson, who has played in 15 of the Knicks’ 18 games after foot surgery cut short his previous season in March. “There is progression, so he goes through every phase, and he still has to go through before he is cleared.”

Thibodeau added on Wednesday that Rose and Gibson “did a little bit” in practice, but were still taken for everyday. Tuesday’s game against the Lakers was the first Rose, 33, missed this season. Gibson, 36, has missed each of the team’s last three games.

Despite recent absences, former lottery pick Kevin Knox hasn’t come off the bench in any of the last eight games since a one-minute stint on Nov. 7 against the Cavaliers. The ninth overall pick in 2018 over Kentucky has recorded seven minutes in three appearances this season, scoring just one point.

With Rose sidelined, Thibodeau used rookie Quentin Grimes for five scoreless minutes off the bench in Tuesday’s win over the Lakers.
