Akiem and Siemens Mobility sign a framework agreement for the supply of Vectron locomotives

Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine,December 21, 2021 – Akiem, the specialist in rolling stock rental, and Siemens Mobility announce Akiem’s firm order for 20 Vectron locomotives. The order was finalized under a framework contract for the purchase of locomotives, auxiliary equipment and services signed in August 2021. With this new contract, Akiem confirms its leadership in the European rental market and its ambition to provide European freight and passenger operators with suitable equipment and efficient rolling stock.

The controlled multisystem locomotives have a maximum power of 6.4 MW and a top speed of 200 km / h. They are equipped with the required national train control system and the European train control system, ETCS.
Siemens Mobility has sold 1,156 Vectron locomotives to date, including 767 Vectron MS units, to 58 customers in 16 countries. The Vectron fleet has accumulated more than 500 million kilometers in service to date. Locomotives based on the Vectron platform are approved for operation in 20 European countries.
