The US State Department has underscored the urgent need for Libyan leaders to find creative compromises on an electoral framework.

US State Department spokesman Ned Price told reporters on Thursday that Washington’s goal for Libya is a sovereign, stable, unified and secure state, free from foreign interference, and a democratically government. elected representative who supports development and is capable of fighting terrorism within its borders.

Price also said the United States knows that the elections must be free and fair and be held on time on December 24 because they are at the heart of democratic change, saying that is why it is urgent that Libyan leaders propose compromises on an electoral framework.

“We welcomed the Libyan road map in UN Security Council resolution 2570 in April. So the conduct of free and fair elections – the conduct of free and fair elections is extremely important to us. This is something we will continue to work on with our partners in the international community to continue to support and help the Libyan people achieve their broader aspirations. Price added.

The American efforts had been redoubled in recent times concerning Libya, as more recently; National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan met Egyptian officials in Cairo and discussed the need for a timely election in Libya.
